The Franklin County Sheriff's Office and Adult Detention Facility

was completed in December of 1986

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is a full service Law Enforcement Agency.

The office is operated by men and women dedicated to preserving the peace and order by upholding the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Missouri. The Sheriff and Deputies of this office nurture public trust by holding themselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics.

The foundation of this office is community service with respect, fairness, and compassion, to all persons with whom we come in contact.

It is our goal to fairly and professionally investigate problems and incidents, seeking solutions and fostering a sense of security for all individuals who are within the boundaries of the Franklin County Community.

To fulfill this mission, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department is dedicated to providing a quality work environment and enhancing the quality of its members through training, education, and leadership.

About the Franklin County Sheriff's Department

Franklin County is a suburban county of the St. Louis metropolitan area.  Franklin County is growing rapidly and enjoys both rural living and populated areas close to the St. Louis County line.

Franklin County has approximately 922.1 square miles of area and approximately 93,807 citizens.  The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has 120 full time employees.  These employees operate the Franklin County Jail, Road Patrol, Civil Section, Communications, Inmate Food Services, Maintenance, Medical Section, and Detective Bureau.  Among these 120 employees are certified specialists in:

·         Self Defense,

·         Use of Force, (Instruction and  providing expert witness testimony),

·         Hostage Negotiation,

·         Crime Scene Processing,

·         Voice Stress Analysis,

·         Firearms Training, (handgun, Rifle, Shotgun, Machine gun).

·         Hazardous Waste,

·         Emergency Response Situations, (Emergency Response Team.)

·         Drivers instructors,

·         K-9 Handlers,

·         Interview and Interrogation,

·         Sniper,

·         CPR,

·         HAZMAT Weapons of Mass Destruction,

·         Members, Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad,

·         Use of Taser and Chemical Munitions.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office requires a minimum of  600 hours of law enforcement basic training for new employees.   The Sheriff, Under Sheriff, Captain of Field Operations and Road Division Lieutenant are graduates of  the FBI National Academy located in Quantico, Virginia.
